Four DLD students received CIFE Prizes from Baroness Pauline Perry at a recent awards ceremony in the House of Lords.

Caroline San Kyi won the CIFE award for Social Sciences. Caroline came to DLD in 2010, after the AS courses had commenced, and she caught up with work with impressive speed. Since then she has been a model student, both academically and in her contribution to the life of the school.

She has shown great initiative and ability in class, and in extra-curricular academic pursuits (she was an inspiring student Mentor). Caroline has achieved an A* in Mathematics in less than one year, and also achieved an A* in Further Maths the following year. Her A-level results in June 2012 were A*Maths A*Further Maths, A* Economics, A*Sociology.

Marija Titova won the CIFE award for Visual and Creative Arts. Marija is a highly intelligent, extremely talented student who has a real interest and love of art. In her AS year she was awarded the highest overall mark for Art at DLD. Marija is the first student at A level to be awarded 100% marks for her AS Units in DLD’s Art Department. Marija is an extremely bright student who is highly able and motivated in both her creative and academic studies. She is also fluent in Russian, Latvian and English, and has a working knowledge of German. Marija has an extremely mature and inquiring disposition generally, and is organised, thorough and ambitious in all areas of her studies and extra-curricular activities.

Tinashe Dingwiza won a CIFE College Prize for exceptional contribution to college life. Tina is hard-working, mature, focused and intelligent. He achieved grades of A*, A and B in Mathematics, Economics and Physics, as well as A in AS Further Maths. He has returned this year in order to complete Further Maths and to study the Advanced Extension Award and STEP I and II in preparation for a Mathematics degree.

He is mentor to a student in the college with special educational needs and has also contributed to College life by writing blogs and supporting charity events. Tinashe is also a passionate and successful footballer for our first team. He has made a most important contribution to the team and the promotion of the ethos, standards and values of the College.
