We were delighted to see Haiqi Wu receive a 2017 CIFE Award this April for his exceptional contribution to life at Cherwell College. The picture shows our current student Pengzhou Wang, who accepted the award on Haiqui’s behalf from CIFE President Lord Lexden at a ceremony in the House of Lords.

Haiqi Wu receives a 2017 CIFE AwardHaiqi joined us directly from schooling in China for the academic year 2014-15. Haiqi was very determined to study in the UK and to enter Oxford University.

Throughout his A-level studies Haiqi frequently assisted other students with their maths and physics problems.

Our Physics tutor provided this reference for Haiqi’s UCAS application: “In almost every topic, we exceed the bounds of the syllabus e.g. we use calculus at every opportunity and discuss the wider implications of the material.  Sometimes, Haiqi asked me to set him a tricky problem that I’m not sure is solvable so that we can have fun playing with it. Haiqi usually gets further with it than I expect. However, Physics is just a secondary interest for Haiqi, with Maths as his core subject”.

Haiqi achieved A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics and gained a place at Corpus Christi, Oxford.
