Chelsea Independent College is a leading London sixth form college offering a wide range of courses, including GCSE, A-Level, one-year intensive courses, and an International Foundation Year. For the fifth year running, Chelsea Independent College offers a highly successful academic summer programme, where students explore specialist subjects and careers in more depth while improving their English proficiency skills and gaining experience from interactive workshops, seminars and academic visits. Our highly experienced staff believe in harnessing each student’s interests and talents, providing them with the needed preparation to successfully progress to a desired university and beyond. With our small class sizes and individual approach, students receive lots of individual attention and support. For this year, we offer six course pathways to nurture the diverse demand and career aims.

Art & Design

This programme is focused on helping you develop the skills and knowledge essential for a successful career in the creative industries at the highest level. Our teachers are practising designers and artists and can therefore give students an insight into the pre-university preparation required for academic and professional success in the longer term. Students also benefit from use of three fully equipped and functioning art rooms, including a suite of Mac computers with Photoshop for use in the programme. Art & Design pathway is very hands on and is supplemented by theoretical learning for each lesson. Traditional, modern and contemporary artists’ techniques and theories are taught.

Business & Finance

The Business and Finance programme aims to develop students’ knowledge of the commercial environment. We will provide them with an introduction to the principles of Business and Finance and help you to identify which areas of these fields would be best suited to you in the future. Fields covered will include marketing, accounting, market research, financial management, entrepreneurship, business planning, micro and macro- economics and more besides. The final project for this pathway is a project based learning experience called the Dragon’s Den Competition. As students learn new concepts, they apply that learning while working collaboratively to design a detailed business plan to present to our Dragons.

Drama & Theatre Studies

Drama is not only exciting in itself but it teaches a great variety of practical skills. London a global centre for drama and theatre with one of the oldest and richest histories of performance and drama schools in the world. The programme is designed for students wishing to develop their acting skills through the use of props, improvisation, and storytelling, as well as expert teaching in voice coaching, stage combat and live performance. The sole use of a brand new state-of-the-art theatre space at our sister school, Kensington Park School, further supplies students with the knowledge of stagecraft and all the behind-the-scene work. At the end of the programme, students will devise and perform their own choice of play using group skills in a fun and friendly environment.

Engineering & Computing

For those interested in the field of Engineering and Computing, this programme will provide them with a valuable insight to help you further develop their knowledge of the subjects and the opportunities that exist therein. This pathway brings together a wide variety of skills from maths and science to the creativity required to build the next big idea. Our tutors expose students to a broad range of engineering disciplines including automotive, civil, chemical, electrical and mechanical, as well as provide more specific tuition focused on computing fields such as programming and machine intelligence. Students also examine engineering in context and the field’s evolution. Rather than just using software and devices, computer science and engineering allows students to create them.

Law, Politics & International Relations

This programme has a lot to offer. From excursions to places of interest such as the Royal Courts of Justice or the Houses of Parliament, to development of theoretical knowledge in class during exciting debates and case studies. The purpose of the programme is to acquaint students with degree-level introduction to the study of law, politics and international relations, which is a great start of a political or legal career. Students expand and sharpen their political ideas, gain communication and study skills, practice effective argumentation and analyse the changing nature of key political processes and phenomena taking place today, both locally and globally.

Medicine

Our Medicine programme offers the opportunity to consolidate students’ academic knowledge, combines theory and practical techniques and, therefore, allows students to explore what it takes to get in to university in the medical field and the career options available. Alongside English Language teaching classes, students visit world leading London universities such as UCL or Imperial College where they receive valuable advice on choosing the right medical school, and attend seminars with leading doctors and healthcare professionals.  Students interested in applying to medical schools or considering career options in the healthcare industry, our experienced tutors will guide them through their choices, UKCAT and BMAT preparation.
