After 5 outstanding years of leadership at Brooke House College, Mike Oliver is retiring and is being replaced by Ian Smith as its new Principal,

Ian Smith has taught for twenty five years in state, independent and international schools. He is inspired to connect young people with their passion and purpose, kindling an entrepreneurial mindset in teaching and learning. A published writer, Ian has developed the digital platform IMPACT to promote sustainability and innovation.

Ian was Vice Principal at Surbiton High School between 2008-15 before moving to Geneva, Switzerland with his wife Susan and two children Maya (now 18) and Theo (now 16). He taught the IBDP at Ecolint, The International School of Geneva before taking up the Head of Senior School with GEMS Kochi World School in Kerala.
Additionally, Ian has achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and has an executive MBA in educational leadership. In 2013, he was conferred a lifetime honour in recognition of the promotion of entrepreneurial education in UK schools, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. An ambassador for Swiss NGO SanChild and the Princess Diana Award, Ian co-created the Global Entrepreneurial Leaders (GEL) Youth Summit hosted at Palais des Nations, UN Geneva 2018 and 2019, connecting over five hundred students with social entrepreneurs worldwide.
