Introduction
Collingham is a co-educational independent sixth-form college and school, situated in a quiet garden square in Kensington. The number of students is 180, aged from 13 years. Students are taught in small tutorial groups (average size is 5). All academic subjects are covered at AS, A level and GCSE, and individual tuition can be arranged. Two-years, one-year and short revision courses are offered.
Care of Students
All students at Collingham have a Personal Tutor responsible for their welfare. The Personal Tutor monitors progress, provides a sympathetic ear and can give advice on both academic and personal matters. They are in constant touch with subject tutors and maintain close contact with parents.
Collingham's GCSE department
Most students study six or more GCSE subjects, including English, Maths, one modern foreign language and at least one science subject. Collingham also encourages students to take at least one non-academic subject (these include Art, Drama and Photography). Students can join for Year 9, 10 or 11. Two-year and one-year GCSE courses are available.
Subject Choices
Collingham offers a wide choice of subjects, so that all students can follow courses which express their personal talents and interests, as well as preparing them for the future. There is no restriction on subject combinations at A level.
Outside Collingham
There is regular Wednesday evening football, open to all students. Students can also join the Ethos sports club at nearby Imperial College. Collingham presents an annual charity musical evening where students and staff combine their musical talents. There are clubs for debating and chess. At the end of the academic year, Activities Week provides a range of opportunities for first-year students to take part in, such as a charity walk in the Alps, the production of a magazine, work experience, Art and Drama workshops.
After Collingham
Over 90% of Collingham leavers go on to university each year, some to art college or drama school. Great care is taken with university applications, so that all students can achieve places that suit their aims and abilities. Collingham maintains close contact with universities and students are guided through each stage of the UCAS application.
