Introduction
Cambridge Tutors College (CTC) is widely regarded as one of the UK's leading sixth form colleges and enjoys a reputation for academic excellence. CTC’s students are drawn from around twenty five countries. Students are prepared for entry into prestigious UK universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial and the LSE. The college also enjoys a reputation for having a significant proportion of its graduates gain entry to UK medical schools.
Location
The college benefits from a park-side location in the London Borough of Croydon, just twenty minutes by train from the centre of the capital city.
Teaching
Students are taught in classes of not more than nine. This ensures that students are fully engaged in their learning and that the college’s experienced tutors are able to provide each individual student with the attention and support that he or she requires.
Examination results and university entrance
The College’s academic results are consistently excellent. In the June 2011 A level examinations, 33% of examinations sat by CTC students were awarded an A* grade; 67% were awarded either A* or A grades. On the basis of those results, in the Times 2011 A level league table of independent co-educational schools and colleges, CTC was ranked 14th. No specialist A level college ranked higher. Six of CTC’s 2011 leavers gained places at Oxford or Cambridge. Another six gained places at UK medical schools.
Accommodation and Welfare
A safe and supportive environment is provided both inside and outside the college. Accommodation is provided in a local family home, with each student having his or her own study bedroom and with breakfast and evening meals provided. Host family accommodation is carefully selected by our accommodation and welfare team, who are also happy to take account of particular student preferences.
Activities
Our students are encouraged to participate in a varied extra-curricular programme, including not only sports, but also excursions, expeditions, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Young Enterprise programme.
