Our College
Cambridge Centre for Sixth-form Studies (CCSS) is one of the UK's leading independent sixth-form colleges, specialising in A-level and GCSE courses, and preparing students for entry into the best universities in the UK and abroad.
We are an educational charity and student-centred in all we do. Students come to us with different backgrounds and abilities, but all of them benefit tremendously from the individual approach and supportive environment at the College.
We have 210 students aged from 15 to 19. Half of them stay in our boarding accommodation and the other half are day students. The Collegeis based in the exciting university town of Cambridge, close to the railway station and 50-minutes' train-ride from London, with easy connections to international airports.
Friendly and supportive environment
We provide a friendly and supportive environment helping every student to achieve their full potential and enjoy their time at the College. We have also developed a special induction programme to help new students become part of CCSS quickly and easily.
Unique blend of group and personal tuition
We offer a unique blend of group and personal tuition. Our small classes (an average of just six students) encourage the in-depth acquisition of knowledge, the development of important examination and personal skills, and the deeper understanding that comes from regular interaction with experienced teachers. We believe that our one-to-one private lessons in addition to group teaching are also crucial in developing a productive rapport between teacher and student.
Wide range of subjects
We teach over 36 different A-level subjects and you can choose any combination of them - there are no restrictions.
Pathway to University
Most pupils have one clear aim in mind when entering a sixth form: taking up a university course that is appropriate for their future aspirations. We take our mission seriously and prepare students not just academically through excellent teaching but also socially and personally for the university years ahead. With close guidance from teachers and tutors, our students develop a greater sense of responsibility, respect for themselves and others, and confidence in their own abilities.
Our full programme of support in preparing university applications includes individual weekly tutorials, practice interviews, visits to universities, and additional careers guidance such as our annual careers convention where students can meet practitioners from a variety of fields.
