Lansdowne College

Introduction
Lansdowne is situated on a quiet residential road between Bayswater and Notting Hill Gate, a minute's walk from Hyde Park. The College is spacious and purpose-built for the needs of our students.

Our facilities
The facilities are excellent: there are over twenty classrooms including fully-equipped science, computer and language laboratories; a large and bright art studio and a photographic darkroom; a small cinema and a media room; a spacious canteen and a large resource centre for study outside of the classroom. This centre provides all students with a modern computer suite complete with Internet and e-mail access, a student photo-copier and a library of magazines and reference materials including past examination papers. Lansdowne also boasts a 200-seater hall used for theatre, student parties and numerous other College activities.

Our courses
As well as the normal two year A level courses, Lansdowne provides complete A level (AS & A2) one year courses in over forty A level and AS level subjects. Students may also join Lansdowne for the A2 course in the Upper Sixth or for short retake courses either from September to January or January to June.

Our specially designed one and two year GCSE programmes provide a full timetable with a choice of over twenty subjects. Students may also retake one or two GCSEs with their A levels.
All courses are taught by highly qualified staff who excel in their ability to motivate and communicate with young people. Tuition is in small groups, which is supplemented with one-to-one tutorial periods, regular supervised study sessions and weekly examination practice in the hall where they will sit their public examinations, so that they are fully prepared for the real thing. Each student is allocated a personal tutor who both monitors and assists their progress and development at Lansdowne, as well as guiding them through their University application process. Academic tuition is augmented by a varied extra-curricular programme: this includes our ‘learning to learn' workshops, mock interviews, sporting activities, field trips and outings.

Atmosphere
At Lansdowne, we believe that our students relish and respond to being treated as young adults and enjoy their academic challenge. They thrive on a mixture of expert tuition, hard work and pastoral care and benefit thoroughly from an environment that, whilst maintaining academic rigour and discipline, enjoys a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
