Duff Miller Sixth-form College
Introduction
Duff Miller was founded in 1952 to provide an alternative education focused on the needs of the individual, not simply the group as a whole. Although the systems may have changed, this is a philosophy still espoused by the teaching community at Duff Miller. On the social side, recent trips include numerous musical and theatre visits and a skiing trip to Kitzbuhel in Austria.
College Amenities
The college is equipped with twenty classrooms, including three laboratories, an IT resource centre, private study area, art studio, student common room and snack area. We also make use of the wide range of facilities London has to offer, including a number of professional theatres and art studios for student performances and exhibitions.
Courses Available
Our specialist Medical Sciences programme incorporates a wide range of guest lectures from admissions tutors and others in the profession. We provide work placement, mock interviews and extensive counselling to all students wishing to enter these high demand disciplines.
On the Creative Arts programme, we aim to develop and nurture the unique artistic talents of all students. We achieve this through an extensive programme of theatre productions and visits, gallery visits and inviting a wide range of guests from many artistic fields. We produce two plays yearly at nearby theatres.
Our Social Science programme seeks to promote interest and understanding of economics, politics and sociology. Social Science events have included an address by European Member of Parliament, Caroline Lucas and an afternoon of debate with former Kensington MP, Michael Portillo. Duff Miller Social Science students are carefully prepared for university entry with some entering LSE, University College London and Cambridge. Dr. Derek Wall, Head of Social Science at Duff Miller also teaches Political Economy at the University of London.
Location
Duff Miller is located close to South Kensington in one of the most desirable areas of London. Close to Hyde Park (2 min) and Buckingham Palace, as well as London's museums and theatreland, our location provides easy access to the best London has to offer.
Members of Staff
Our staff are selected for their subject knowledge and an ability to relate and communicate to young people. Most are graduates of Oxbridge or London Universities, and many act as senior examiners at A level.
