CCSS is a unique and special place to learn
At a time when the best universities are looking for more than top grade passes, we firmly believe that the pathway to university lies not just in excellent teaching, but in close pastoral care, a broad education and personal guidance from dedicated and experienced teachers.

General
CCSS is a co-educational sixth-form college offering GCSE and A-level courses to 190 students, supported by 90 staff. The college provides close academic supervision, a friendly, informal atmosphere and high levels of pastoral care. One-to-one private tutorials are an important and unique part of all A level courses on top of group lessons. The small class sizes (averaging 5 students) allow plenty of opportunity for individual involvement and for developing each student's levels of understanding. A full and flexible GCSE curriculum is offered and at A level there are over 30 subjects to choose from, without restrictions on choice.

Our Values
All teaching and non-teaching staff at CCSS believe in our moral purpose: that through good teaching, pastoral guidance and close tutorial support, we can improve the life chances of ALL of the students in our care.

Examination Results
CCSS had an enviable 99% pass-rate in A-level examinations in 2007 from a non-selective student intake. The great majority of students graduating from CCSS go on to university in the UK or elsewhere, with many enjoying success at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and other top universities in subjects ranging from International Business to Law and Medicine.

Location and Facilities
CCSS is based in the exciting university town of Cambridge, close to the railway station and 50-minutes’ train-ride from London, with easy connections to international airports. Our three teaching sites are within a few minutes' walk of each other and house 35 classrooms including laboratories, study rooms and specialist facilities for subjects such as Modern Languages, Media Studies, Art, Photography and Computing. The College Houses provide fully supervised single-room accommodation for 120 boarding students.

2007 results
CCSS has reported record-breaking results in this year’s A-level examinations: out of 282 exams taken 99% were graded A-E and 81% were A-C grades.

Individual success stories
Claire Chewapreecha has marked the end of her studies at the college with 4 “A” grades in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Claire is planning to read Natural Science at University of Cambridge.

Alex Williams chose CCSS to retake his A-levels. His hard work was rewarded with 3 A grades: in Economics, Government and Politics, and History.  Alex plans to apply to read History at the University of Cambridge next year and will spend his gap year working in politics.

Igor Kim has received 3 As in Economics, Business Studies and Russian. Igor is going to the Royal Holloway University of London to read for BSc degree in Management.

Inspectors praise CCSS
Students, teachers and parents at CCSS are celebrating the overwhelmingly positive results of the ISI inspection recently conducted at the college. Inspectors said that “CCSS provides a high quality educational experience”, achieving its aim of providing an individual approach to every student. They also rated teaching as “high quality” and pastoral care as “outstanding”.  “Students are attentive, fluent and read intelligently. They are morally aware, respect rules and enjoy their work”, inspectors said. They also praised the “strong” leadership in the college and described support for students as “exceptional”.

“We are delighted with the inspectors’ findings, said Neil Roskilly, the Principal of the college. Parents and students have always praised our approach, but it is particularly pleasing when this is officially recognised”.
